Bunnies and Burrows

Welcome to your campaign!
A blog for your campaign

Wondering how to get started? Here are a few tips:

1. Invite your players

Invite them with either their email address or their Obsidian Portal username.

2. Edit your home page

Make a few changes to the home page and give people an idea of what your campaign is about. That will let people know you’re serious and not just playing with the system.

3. Choose a theme

If you want to set a specific mood for your campaign, we have several backgrounds to choose from. Accentuate it by creating a top banner image.

4. Create some NPCs

Characters form the core of every campaign, so take a few minutes to list out the major NPCs in your campaign.

A quick tip: The “+” icon in the top right of every section is how to add a new item, whether it’s a new character or adventure log post, or anything else.

5. Write your first Adventure Log post

The adventure log is where you list the sessions and adventures your party has been on, but for now, we suggest doing a very light “story so far” post. Just give a brief overview of what the party has done up to this point. After each future session, create a new post detailing that night’s adventures.

One final tip: Don’t stress about making your Obsidian Portal campaign look perfect. Instead, just make it work for you and your group. If everyone is having fun, then you’re using Obsidian Portal exactly as it was designed, even if your adventure log isn’t always up to date or your characters don’t all have portrait pictures.

That’s it! The rest is up to your and your players.

The Group Forms
Game 1

It is early morning and the majority of the Home Warren rabbits are above ground feeding. Barb is going about her morning routine when she notices Sparks, who is missing an eye. Being an empathic healer, she feels drawn to her. She goes over and introduces herself, asks Sparks where she lives and if she can do anything about her eye. Sparks has a vision of the future, showing the two of them, as well as two other rabbits going on an adventure together. She tells Barb about the vision and spots Rosalina, who she recognizes from the vision.

They approach Rosalina and introduce themselves. Rosalina asks what they want after introducing herself. They explain to her about the vision. She thinks about it for awhile before agreeing, citing the fact that they need her. There is some chatter about setting out at once, but Sparks insists they need the last member.

Pigeon has been eating and decides to take a rest. Spotting what he believes to be a bush, he goes over and rests against it. He notices that the bush is oddly plush, only to find out he was in fact resting against Barb’s side. Pigeon introduces himself and generally squabbles a bit with Barb. Sparks announces they can begin because they now have the last member of the party. Pigeon is voted the leader because of his status as a Hoplite and general experience with traveling.

Rosalina decides to dance to celebrate the occasion. Despite having only three legs she proves to be a marvelous dancer.

Shortly after this, Pigeon is approached by a fellow Hoplite and given orders to gather a party and travel to Nut Copse Warren immediately to investigate and locate the source of rebellion there. They set out immediately.

The Journey Begins
Game 2

The party begins their journey, traveling towards Nut Copse and following the edge of the forest. The day is fine, they are moving into the wind and there are no signs of predators about. The group travels for awhile before Pigeon decides to break and attempt to make a disguise out of large leaves. He isn’t terribly successful, so they move on and Pigeon abandons his disguise.

After a time, they spot a human and a dog some distance away. Pigeon and Sparks immediately dash for cover. Rosalina is temporarily frozen, but eventually gets under cover too. Barb on the other hand is completely overwhelmed and begins to tremble and scream in panic. Luckily the human and dog are not headed towards them. The human does not even notice their presence, but the dog does seem aware of them. Barb eventually collects herself and manages to get under some cover. The human and dog move on without incident and the party waits for Barb to completely recover before moving on.

They arrive at Nut Copse without further issue and are approached by a border scout. When asked who they are and what their business is, Pigeon attempts to lie about both his identity and their purpose. The scout is unconvinced and Pigeon relents, providing his real name and a more convincing lie about their purposes. The scout eventually remembers Pigeon and lets them pass. He informs them most of the warren is asleep for their midday rest and that they won’t find many rabbits awake.

The group decides to rest underground. After they awaken they split up into two groups to try and find information. Sparks and Barb overhear a rabbit loudly complaining to a friend about how he was robbed of half his truffles for tribute to the Home Warren. Sensing an opening, Barb attempts to empathize and commiserate with the rabbit. Barb overdoes it and the rabbit eventually excuses himself.

Pigeon and Rosalina noticed a rabbit going around speaking to others about a meeting. They approach the rabbit and ask what the meeting is for. She informs them it is a class held by the warren herbalist. It normally takes place every other night, but the herbalist was not feeling well and so there were no classes for the past few days. Tonight they will be going over snuffballs. Pigeon asks about other meetings, the rabbit is unsure, but thinks there may be similar classes that the empathic healer holds.

Pigeon and Rosalina move on and eventually hear some whispering in the brush. There is a medium sized reddish rabbit talking to a larger, scarred up rabbit. He says something vague about a meeting the next night before they go their separate ways. The scarred rabbit returns to a patrol and the reddish rabbits moves on rather quickly. Pigeon tails him, but only sees him stopping to eat a patch of clover he apparently didn’t want to share.

Barb and Sparks spot a female that is quite large like Barb. They approach her and eventually discover that she is Barb’s granddaughter (named Cecily). Her mother Emily met a rabbit from Nut Copse while he was at the Home Warren and traveled back with him. Pigeon and Rosalina join back up with Sparks and Barb. They all go to meet Emily who has a joyous reunion with her mother. Emily explains where to find her burrow and that they are welcome to sleep there and meet the rest of the family come nightfall.

The group does some nut collecting, trades with the local squirrels for unknown herbs and eventually make their way to the trading hub inside the warren. There are herbs, food, and human artifacts available. They get their herbs identified and Pigeon trades some of his for a truffle. They also spend some time making some backpacks.

They make their way to the herb lore class held by Barberry, the warren herbalist. She explains about how to find, prepare, and store snuffballs. They once again hear praise for Prince Stripe Ear and what a wonderful leader he is.

After night falls they go to Emily’s burrow and meet the rest of her litter. Her mate Oak comes home and is introduced to the group. It turns out that he is the big scarred rabbit from the earlier rendezvous in the bushes. Emily and Oak talk more in depth about how they met and a little more about Prince Stripe Ear. Rosalina tells the kittens a story to help them sleep.

The next morning they go about eating breakfast. Rosalina decides to tell a story and dance. The story is exceptional and the dance is lovely too. It garners quite a lot of attention. A rabbit approaches Rosalina and asks if she knows Bun fu, seeing as how she is so graceful (despite her missing leg). She is informed that there is a class right after the midday nap today if she is interested. They finally find out how to meet Prince Stripe Ear. He takes audiences in the meeting burrow before everyone goes to sleep at midday. They spend more time hunting for nuts and trading with the squirrels. They once again go to the trading hub to get them identified and do a bit of trading for other herbs. Pigeon asks if any new human artifacts are available. He’s informed that it is rare for anything new to come in, since they come primarily from Streamside via the Home Warren.

They go to meet with Prince Stripe Ear and ask about how he became leader and generally chat with him to get an idea of what he is like. Prince Stripe Ear had heard of Rosalina’s story that morning and complimented her. Realizing that others are waiting for an audience they eventually excuse themselves and find an empty burrow to sleep in. They attend the Bun fu class and Sparks studies very intently. Pigeon talks with the teacher and finds out they were trained by the same teacher, Shamrock. The teacher asks Pigeon to give Shamrock his regards.

After this they set about looking for evidence of secret tunnels and burrows. They search within the warren itself and find evidence of one. Sparks attempts to see the future of the space and sees that there will indeed be a secret meeting here, but neither Oak nor the reddish rabbit are present in the vision. They continue their search in the bolt holes surrounding the warren and eventually find another secret opening. This one is quite close to the other and they vaguely suspect they are connected. Sparks attempts another vision and confirms that Oak will be there that night. It is decided that Pigeon will cover one end of the bolt hole, with Rosalina and Sparks on the other end. Barb will keep watch on the other secret entrance just in case. They gamble to pass the time before Pigeon sets about disguising all the members of the party. Nightfall approaches and the party members set up watch at their agreed upon posts. They see multiple rabbits they do not recognize and eventually confirm the arrival of Oak and the reddish rabbit. Pigeon attempts to sneak down the bolt hole to listen and makes too much noise, forcing him to retreat. Those meeting block up the secret opening. Pigeon attempts again and gets close to the plug, however he cannot hear what they are talking about. Barb hears nothing at the other secret opening. Pigeon debates kicking in the plug, but knows he can’t fight the group and knows their mission is to identify the source of the rebellion, not quell it themselves.

Knowing they have confirmed the presence of rebellion, he decides to call a retreat and determines that their next move will be to get closer to Oak. The group gathers back together and goes to sleep for the night.

The Rebellion
Game 3

Pigeon and Sparks begin the morning by hunting for more nuts. By now they are quite sparse and are overall of lower quality. After this they all decide to meet in one of the bolt holes to discuss what to do next. It is decided that they will approach Clay (the reddish rabbit) and Oak separately. Pigeon and Sparks go to find Clay, while Barb and Rosalina set out to find Oak. It turns out that Oak patrols the area around the bolt hole where the secret meeting took place the night before. They find his tracks and begin to follow them. They are surprised by a sable hunting squirrels in the trees overhead and Barb faints. Unable to move her, Rosalina frantically looks for Oak and brings him back to guard his unconscious mother-in-law. Rosalina talks to him to pass the time, secretly using her Enthrallment skills to convince him to be honest with them. He talks to her about both the meeting and the rebellion. Rosalina asks if she can join the rebellion. The entralled Oak says that she can. Barb finally recovers and asks about the reasons behind the rebellion. It is revealed that the Home Warren has imposed very strict rules regarding the warren’s expansion, breeding rights, and ability to trade in addition to demanding tribute.

Pigeon and Sparks find Clay eating clover. They talk to him casually, discovering his name but little else. While he does hint at the rebellion, he is cagey enough that they don’t know anything more than they already did. They give up and head to the market, eventually trading their nuts for fishhooks with colorful feathers attached.

Rosalina and Barb eventually start heading back to the warren to meet the others when Oak finally starts to return to himself. He’s worried about the fact he revealed so much information. Barb assures him that they won’t betray him. Oak in turn assures her that Emily is not part of the rebellion.

Sparks has a vision that Rosalina and Barb are looking for them. They meet up and exchange information. They decide that they support the rebellion and want to join. Barb is uncomfortable, but doesn’t wish to go against the group. Sparks foretells that the next meeting is three days away. They confirm this with Oak and formally join the rebellion.

They pass the next three days in the warren. Sparks attends the herbalist classes that occur during that time. Rosalina does daily dances and storytelling sessions. She maintains a decent amount of fans. They all go to the meeting. Boneset, the captain of the Warren Guard is the leader of the rebellion. He explains to the group what they will likely need to do. They need to kill or defeat the four guards that are loyal to the Home Warren and roust the Council members who are all from the Home Warren. After that they will need to spend time fortifying the warren and putting ambushes in place along the route to the Home Warren. Pigeon alerts Boneset to the fact that the Home Warren is aware there is a rebellion brewing without revealing the fact they were originally sent as spies. Boneset is concerned by this fact and decides that they need to move quickly. He says that he will inform the Prince about this the following day and will send a runner as soon as the Prince is on board. They all begin to head back to the warren. Barb trips and ends up tumbling for a good distance. Thankfully it doesn’t draw too much attention and Barb is unscathed.

The next day they discuss the other plug with Oak, who knows nothing about it. Sparks has a new vision concerning it, realizing that it is not the Prince meeting behind the plug, but rather his brother Stonebrook. They find Stonebrook and talk with him awhile, discovering he is the ambassador to the Home Warren and that he isn’t all that friendly. Sparks attempts another vision, but fails. Clay comes by to alert them that the Prince is with them and wants to move soon. They talk to Boneset about the plug. He decides it would be prudent to put a watch on it.

The Orders
Game 4

Boneset takes the time to go through and catalog the skills of the recruits and assign them to appropriate duties.

Pigeon, given the choice between joining the warren defense (which requires taking the time to study the local landscape) or joining one of the ambush forces, opts to join the latter. He meets his three teammates, who he will be fighting alongside at the foremost ambush site. They are Wisteria, a doe, Elm, a buck, and Thunder an older buck who is the leader of the team. Thunder explains that as soon as the warren guards are killed and the council is secured, they will set out to their forward position. Until then he suggests they remain well rested and take time to hone their fighting skills.

Rosalina is assigned to assist in the task of getting the local squirrels to support the warren. She gets the attention of more squirrels than she can count (6) and manages to sway them using her powers of Enthrallment. There are plenty of others working to recruit squirrels, so this is deemed to be enough. She is told that during the battle she will be expected to stay underground and keep morale high with her storytelling.

Barb, being one of the few in the area who is able to speak to crows, is sent with a negotiator to recruit some crows to their side. She and the negotiator, Licorice, go out beyond the warren bounds and manage to get the attention of some crows, who send down a single crow to investigate. The crows are easily swayed when Licorice explains (via Barb) that the Nut Copse Warren is prepared to give them all of the enemy bodies in exchange for their help. However, the crow does have many questions about the when, where, and how which Barb has to take the time to explain. There will be no time to alert them, so she tells them to stay close and be on the lookout for a large group of rabbits moving towards the warren. The crows are pleased with the deal and promise to stay close and be there when the time comes.

Barb is also asked if she (as an empathic healer) is willing to support the guard who will be protecting the only front entrance to the warren that will be left open. She would be able to keep him alive and fighting longer and if all else fails, as a large rabbit she could block the entrance herself. She agrees, feeling it is a good use of her skills.

Sparks is recruited for her skills as a seer and just more generally is assigned to assist with prepping the warren for siege after the council is captured. She successfully has a vision of the secret chamber and notes it has only the one entrance/exit, the plug they discovered. She is escorted outside and casually shown the council members. She recognizes several from her vision and it is concluded that the secret chamber is where they have been having their meetings. She is thanked and advised to keep well rested.

Boneset organizes his attack groups and lays out the plans. Each guard will be handled by a group of three rabbits. Two to approach in the open, and one will come in and perform an ambush. The council will be attacked while in their secret chamber. The plug will be kicked in and they will do whatever it takes to get at least one in a killing position to force the others to surrender.
